This is the wedding photography blog for Melbourne based photographer Brent Lukey.

Brent combines a documentary and editorial style capturing classic, natural moments without making the day feel like a photo shoot.

He will travel anywhere, but mostly gets about Melbourne, the Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula, and Geelong.

You can contact Brent on 0427 483 836 and look at more work at his web sites.

the photographer on holiday

Shot my last wedding for a while last week and it's time for a short winter break. Holidays can be a strange time for me. On the one hand it’s great to leave my office and get out with the family. On the other hand, because I work for myself and my work is creative, I never really stop working. As Roland Barthes once put it: ‘Writers are on holiday, but their Muse is awake, and gives birth non-stop.’ This is definitely the case for photographers, they never stop working – everyday there is something to photograph.

So I struggle between spending time with my family and being inspired to make more photographs. However, I take some comfort knowing that Newton discovered gravity while sitting under a tree, and not while working in his office.

A few holiday snaps while in India 9 years ago (before I was a photographer).

Julia and Hugh's wedding - The Prince, St Kilda.

Julia and Hugh had a beautiful and intimate wedding on The Deck at The Prince in Melbourne. If you are looking for a venue that is exciting, has great food and service, and looks amazing, check it out.

Andrea and Michael's wedding - Greek Orthodox Church of St Eustathios, Sth Melbourne and Comme, Melbourne.

Andrea and Michael stayed at the Hyatt in Melbourne and were upgraded to the largest hotel room you will ever see - views, giant spa, amazing! It was so large the extended families went back there after the ceremony and had a party.

While the family where back at the hotel Andrea, Michael and myself went to a select few locations for some intimate and relaxed photos. I love photo shoots with just the couple and no bridal party - I've also shot a wedding where I was the only witness, that was cool too ... anyway I digress. We then joined the family back in the hotel room before walking across the road to Comme for the reception and most importantly Greek dancing.
