Fiona and Simon's wedding - The Prince Deck, St Kilda.

As stylish as it maybe, romantic 'bridal' photography is like a Michael Bolton record, well produced but it can make you feel a little bit sick (or let's face it, a lot sick). For me as a photographer, the day is really about the couple and the people they want to surround themselves with, it's not a fashion shoot, or an editorial/lifestyle shoot, or a photojournalism shoot (though it incorporates all of this and more). It's a wedding. It's about watching people, and talking to people, to find their unique beauty and photographing that spirit in an artful way without pissing them off or wasting their time. It's as simple and as difficult as that - to steal a quote from Michael Leunig.

Earlier this week my seven year old daughter told me that I do interesting work - bless her cotton socks. I thanked her and told her that I just want to show people that they are loved. Weddings are one of the few events where we allow a chance to show and tell our friends and family that they are loved and that they are special. I hope my photos go some way to capture that. Here's a selection of shots from Fiona and Simon's wedding on The Prince Deck in St Kilda, a favourite location, a great day and I think I did my job pretty well.
