We are taking a short break prior to Christmas and will be back in the office from Tuesday 28th December 2011. Cheers!
This is the wedding photography blog for Melbourne based photographer Brent Lukey.
Brent combines a documentary and editorial style capturing classic, natural moments without making the day feel like a photo shoot.
He will travel anywhere, but mostly gets about Melbourne, the Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula, and Geelong.

Aimee and Daniel's wedding - The Prince Deck, St Kilda
On a warm night in Melbourne there is no finer place for a party than The Deck at The Prince in St Kilda. Aimee and Daniel had a cocktail party wedding, the ceremony was conducted with verve by Jon von Goes, followed by champagne, cold beer and groovy tunes by Johnny Wonderpants (the band). Nice.

it's a wine, wine world - mandala estate, yarra valley
I've been too busy the last few weeks to really blog much, but there are weddings to share that I'll post very soon. In the meantime here's a few shots from a recent shoot at Mandala Wines in the Yarra Valley. Mandala is a great place to visit, beautiful wines and super food. Head up on the weekend and check them out! Cheers.

Sidestreets and Laneways: Revealing the village within central Melbourne.
Great opening last night for the 'Sidestreets and Laneways exhibition', a photography show that documents Melbourne's laneway culture. The work was shot by a number of MAP Group photographers (including myself) and runs for the next two months. It's interesting and free, so get along and see it.

National Geographic Photo Contest 2011
Wow! I've been getting great press for an image that I entered into the National Geographic Photo Contest 2011. My photo of a joey kangaroo continues to get listed as one the best in the competition.

Suong and Robert's wedding - Stokehouse, St Kilda.
I think that wedding venues that are not wedding venues are often the best places for a wedding. This goes for most other parts of the wedding as well - photographers, florists, cakes, cars and so forth. Why do I think this? Well people who specialise in weddings tend to do things the 'proper' (read 'cliche') wedding way, and tend to cookie cut your wedding into shape.
Well Suong and Robert had a wedding that was also not a wedding. They got ready together, then meet up with me for a short photography session in the city, before heading to the fabulous Stokehouse in St Kilda for the ceremony and reception. The ceremony was short and sincere, with some great work by celebrant Janet Hussey, followed by drinks and a memorable Stokehouse dinner with lots of photos of the guests.
