rainy melbourne wedding - crown metropol, newman college and the harbour room

It rained and rained on Saturday but with good planning, a fabulously enthusiastic bridal party, and helpful drivers we didn't get too wet and made some beautiful shots. Thanks also to the Crown Metropol for being on side with the use of their lobby. More shots to come.

weddings last weekend - Gardens House, St Michael's and Comme

Two great weddings on the weekend. A sophisticated cocktail party on Saturday at Gardens House in the Melbourne Royal Botanic Gardens, and then on Sunday a cool Italian wedding in the city at St Michael's in Collins Street and Comme. Photos to come next week. But here's a few of my instant favorites.

I love finding candid moments of parents and grandparents at weddings.
Here the bride and groom's parents watch on during the ceremony.

At this point we are midway through family photos - a slow time on any shoot.
I'm talking to the person helping me with the family, then turn around, see this,
grab the camera and shoot. It's the bride's father and grandfather waiting for
direction. Look at the way the bride and groom are just into each other while
waiting. I love this stuff - different stories in one shot, truly documentary.
Weddings are often like this, keep your eyes open and camera ready.

canvas wedding art

Working hard this week finalising wedding albums for Christmas deadlines. Also taken delivery of this 2 metre long canvas that I made up for a wedding client. The final product looks incredible.

Andy and Landon's wedding - St Kilda Botanical Gardens and The Prince, St Kilda.

It's the people that make a wedding special and that doesn't mean you need a large group - I've shot weddings with just the couple and the celebrant that had great emotion. There are however other elements that can help make your wedding just a little more memorable. Landon and Andy had an intimate wedding in St Kilda that totally rocked. Helping make the day special were some great people and locations - St Kilda Botanical Gardens (the groovy public garden in the south), Jon von Goes as celebrant (hip, in the moment and sincere), The Prince for a long table reception (outstanding design, service, photo locations, and food), flowers by Kristina at VivaFlora (perfect understated beauty) and of course me. Andy and Landon's day was memorable, low key, and beautiful.

recent family portraits

Been too busy to write this week. But here's a couple of shots from a recent family photo shoot. I've got a lot to say about family photos - hope I get the chance to say it soon.
